Student Work during Prep Days
Below, you can see some of the work that the students created during the planning days.
I want to reiterate how this was nearly a completely autonomous process. The students decided which facts were important and were the ones who came up what questions to ask to elicit certain answers. During these days, I advised the students and helped them comb through the sources so that they could have a better understanding of the material. I also encouraged the students to work and helped facilitate student partnerships. I found that the students, particularly in my 2nd period class, generally came to class and were eager to get started on the assignment. They would sit in their assigned section and begin working on what they needed to do. This group was generally self-motivated and was looking for ways to enhance their presentation.
After a few days of researching and preparing, the students were ready to perform the mock trial. We held the mock trial in the auditorium to make it more authentic and to give the students more space. The next section will include clips from the trial and various reactions to it.
