Project: Change it!
You have been given a unique opportunity to change something in your school, community, neighborhood, religious group, social group, or sports team.
First – think about something that you would like to change. Do you have any problems with the status quo of one of these groups?
Then, create a written proposal that describes the problem that you face.
Make sure to include
-Description of the current situation and your problem with it.
-Explanation of why you have the problem and what about it bothers you
-Do you think that it is an inherently unfair issue? Or is it a specific problem that only relates to you?
-Who is affected by this problem?
-Why did you choose to write about this specific topic? How are you affected by it?
Your goal is to come up with a solution to the problem that you face. At the end of the unit, you will prepare both a written and oral presentation that describes the problem that you face and how youa plan to overcome it. You will continuously work to incorporate ideas from the unit into your project. You will also use class lessons to help you think about obstacles that you might face and how you will handle challenges. Make sure that in your final presentations you have an adequate solution and specific plans about how to implement that change.
The projects will be graded on how well they are written and presented, as well as the strength of the historical connection.
