Implementing the Lesson, Part II
The next day’s Do Now asked the students to outline the next section of the textbook. This served as the guided practice portion of the learning and students had the chance to work independently with me giving them input on the material. During this time, students worked diligently and seemed to be involved in their work because they were hunched over reading the material and writing their notes. Once everyone was done, we then completed the actual outline on the Promethean board as a class. Although the students seemed to follow what we were doing the day before, they definitely appreciated having a general format so that they could actually understand the structure and concept of an outline and use it for the future. Although the students may have been bored with the assignment, they seemed interested in learning how to use this skill.
